“I walked out of myself and went into the woods into God’s mercy, and here I abide.” Jessica Powers
Meet Jack
I have been involved in ministry for nearly 30 years as a registered nurse and in pastoral settings such as parishes and campus ministry as well as being a chaplain. Most recently I have been serving as a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) educator of hospital chaplains. Human joy and sorrow are no strangers to me. I am a former Catholic priest and am experienced in serving people of various orienting belief systems, spiritualities and religions. My personal affiliation is Christian and my interest lies in accompanying others as a compassionate, contemplative listener—serving as a companion in the process of discerning the stirrings of the Divine in their lives.
My years in ministry have heightened my awareness that everyday events can be interpreted and understood as an actual experience of the Sacred—the extraordinary manifested in the ordinary! As a spiritual pilgrim myself, I am privileged to accompany others as they explore their relationship with God and discern God’s personal invitation to them. My practice of deep contemplative listening is informed by ancient and contemporary mystics as well as the spiritualities of multi-faith streams. Kindness and respect are values I prize.
I received my certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Cranaleith Spiritual Formation Program in Philadelphia. Besides my nursing credentials, I have a Bachelor in Theology from King’s College, Wilkes Barre, PA and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame. Currently I am a Certified Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. I live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and enjoy hiking, gardening, biking and spending quality time with family and friends. I find cooking and hosting others to be spiritually nourishing.
